ARTIST INTERVIEW: Samar Sonone
Name: Samar Sonone
Profession: CG artist
Tell us a bit about your work
My work is about creating beautiful imagery that tells a story effectively, whether it be an illustration, poster, 3d sculpt, product visualization. My work doesn’t center around any specific discipline, I have been lucky enough to be at a position where I have been able to do a wide spectrum of work ranging from modelling characters to retouching illustrations.
How did you get into art/writing?
From school time really. I used 3d studio max to help with school projects. And afterward, my interest in creating games pushed me to become a professional artist.
What are you working on next?
Creating complete 3d worlds inside Unreal engine and more VR stuff.
Any Advice for younger artists?
Try and keep your work fundamentally strong, i.e. good composition, interesting color scheme, the balance between positive and negative spaces, the right amount of detail. Find a niche’ and become a go to person for it. And of course, draw as much as you can.
What are your inspirations?
There is so much awesome stuff happening in every field. Movies, games, product designs, advertising, VR etc. I want to be part of this exciting golden age of art & design. Past 10 years I have seen the entire art & design industries develop more than it has for the last 50 years. New tools have been invented, new fields have opened to artists and it’s an very exciting time.

By day I’m a boring old Web Developer, but as the sun goes down, I’m a SUPERHERO. Well not really I just dress up and pretend to be one.
“Centurions” was my favorite cartoon growing up and I name all my possessions “Shadow” because I can’t afford a Husky.
I camp in Games like it’s nobody’s business, and if you’ve got a problem with that I’ve got two words for ya “I’m Sorry”, cause you’re a noob.
