Cosplayer Interview : Sheila Miranda
Cosplayer name: Sheila Miranda
Profession: Psychological Counsellor
Why do you cosplay?
It’s a lot of fun and a great way to meet like-minded nerds. I’ve met many of my closest friends through cosplay. It’s really exciting to be able to step into the shoes of my favourite fictional characters.
What was your latest Cosplay?
Gamora from Guardians of the Galaxy alongside my very talented friend, Vijay Sinha Cosplay
How long did it take you to make this cosplay? Were there challenges in the design?
Fortunately, this didn’t take too long to make. It took less than a week to put everything together. The most challenging part was definitely the sword and I didn’t even work on that. It was made for me by the wonderful Rajat Mehta/Fui Fui Man of Fui Props.
Your favourite cosplay you’ve done so far?
It’s a tie between Angewomon from the Digimon Series and Revy from Black Lagoon.
What’s your favourite convention?
Bangalore Comic Con
How long have you been into cosplay?
I started fairly recently. Less than 2 years ago.
What was your first costume? Advice for anyone just starting out?
Kamina from the Anime Gurren Lagann.
My advice would be to just have fun with what you’re doing. Don’t worry about perfection. If you like a character, go ahead and cosplay them. Ignore the critics. Do what makes you happy. For me, personally, the best part of cosplay is group, derp selfies.
Where do you get your inspiration from?
I choose characters mainly from comics, anime and fanart. I draw inspiration from other cosplayers. I’m lucky to have a bunch of inspiring, cosplay friends.
What are you working on next?
I have plenty of shoots planned for the months of May and June. I’ll be shooting with other incredibly talented cosplayers. The characters I’m working on are Purgatori, Lady Death, Major Kusanagi, A2 from Nier Automata, and Raven from Teen Titans.

A Business Analyst by profession, but more a traveller who is trying to analyse millennia of history, culture and stories across the world more than often.
I like to collect things – coins, stamps, books, autographs, and most of all action figures. Comics and pop culture has been an active influence to shape my life goals. In my free time (which I have very rarely) I like to do pencil sketching.
Secret wish – to visit every (real/inspired) place Tintin visited.
