COSPLAYER INTERVIEW: Surya Sreenivasan
Why do you cosplay?
Guess is to release the inner nerd spring that we have to keep compressed on a day to day life. It more like a letting the world know about our love for that series/character.
What was your latest Cosplay?
Gabrielle Reyes, the alternate skin/origin of the reaper from overwatch.
How long did it take you to make this cosplay? Were there challenges in the design?
It was a relatively short project with the hellfire shotguns taking the most procrastination to complete, taking in the range to 15-20 man hours over 2 months. The armor with my experience was less an 4 hours work. The rest was off the shelf, a skull cap, a dark gray hoodie modified slightly, some overwatch patches custom made and a few kitchen containers repurposed as grenades.
Challenges, not after doing the Samurai armor build, not really.
Your favorite cosplay you’ve done so far?
Without a doubt Samurai Vader.
What’s your favorite convention?
The Cool Japan fest has been a favorite, it small, there is no pressure to “Compete” and we like the more friendly and more attuned audience as well, instead of the throngs in cons.
How long have you been into cosplay?
Since 2013 Mumbai comic con.
What was your first costume? Advice for anyone just starting out?
Well, Screw it, Just Do it….
Where do you get your inspiration from?
Well mostly from games and media that I come across. Being an avid fan of the Diablo series we have cosplayed from that the most and of course Swat Kats was almost a no-brainer to be done.
What are you working on next?
Nothing yet, the list of want to do cosplays keep increasing, though.

By day I’m a boring old Web Developer, but as the sun goes down, I’m a SUPERHERO. Well not really I just dress up and pretend to be one.
“Centurions” was my favorite cartoon growing up and I name all my possessions “Shadow” because I can’t afford a Husky.
I camp in Games like it’s nobody’s business, and if you’ve got a problem with that I’ve got two words for ya “I’m Sorry”, cause you’re a noob.
